Barriers to Reliable Access

Bicycle Sharrows, Poughkeepsie, New York

The reliability of our transportation system can be measured in various ways: whether your commute takes roughly the same amount of time day to day, whether the bus comes when you need it to, whether you can depend on a sidewalk continuing when you set off on a walk. In this section, we explore four areas of reliability that can make it hard to get where you need to go: bus access, train access, walking and bicycling infrastructure, and traffic congestion. You can also explore this information on the Map Viewer.
