Hudson Valley Regional Airport, Wappinger, New York
New York Stewart International Airport, located in neighboring Orange County near the intersection of the New York State Thruway (I-87) and I-84, is a regional airport managed by the Port Authority of NY & NJ. The airport offers scheduled passenger service to several cities in Florida, Myrtle Beach, SC, and Savannah, GA. In the past, Stewart supported some European flights, but those are no longer operating.
The airport also handles an increasing amount of domestic and international air freight. In 2024, Stewart served about 277,000 passengers on more than 23,000 flights and handled over 26,400 tons of freight.
Commercial service at the Hudson Valley Regional Airport in Wappinger, the largest airport in the county, was suspended in 2001. It currently offers corporate (business) and general (private) aviation services. The airport’s 2024 Airport Master Plan outlines a series of planned capital improvements to the facility.
There are also two small public airports in the county that serve private general aviation aircraft: Sky Acres (Union Vale) and Airhaven (Hyde Park).
