Hudson Valley Regional Airport, Wappinger, New York

New York Stewart International Airport, located in neighboring Orange County near the intersection of the New York State Thruway (I-87) and I-84, is a regional airport managed by the Port Authority of NY & NJ. The airport offers scheduled passenger service to several cities in Florida; Savannah, GA; and major airline hubs in and around Philadelphia. Stewart briefly supported several European flights, but these were suspended in 2019. The airport also handles an increasing amount of domestic and international air freight. In 2019, Stewart saw nearly 530,000 passengers and handled over 22,600 tons of freight, while also hosting over 25,000 general aviation (private, non-commercial) flights.

The airports in Dutchess County serve private general aviation aircraft only. Commercial service at the Hudson Valley Regional Airport in Wappinger, the largest airport in the county, was suspended in 2001. Area leaders have expressed interest in expanding the airport, but primarily for freight use. There are three other small public airports in the county: Sky Acres (Union Vale), Airhaven (Hyde Park) and Sky Park (Red Hook).
